The city of Coralville has been approved for a new hockey team.

The East Coast Hockey League has announced that its Board of Governors has approved the membership application for admission to the ECHL for Coralville to begin play in the 2021-22 season. The Coralville ECHL Member Club will be owned and operated by Deacon Sports and Entertainment.
Dean MacDonald, Chair of Deacon Sports, credited the city and its mayor, John Lundell, for what he called their “significant efforts” in making the initiative happen.

The Coralville ECHL Club will play their home games during the 2021-22 season at Xtream Arena located on the Iowa River Landing.

The ECHL says additional updates including the team name, logo, ticket pricing etc. will be communicated at a later time.
