The head of the Republican Party of Henry County has resigned after he wrote a Facebook post on the party site comparing Wednesday’s Washington DC riots to the beginning of the American Revolution.

Trent Hobbs wrote that the Biden election has “set this Republic firmly on the path to Socialism!” He blamed politicians, regardless of party for not standing up for a free and lawful election, a claim that has been proven time and time again to be untrue.

The line in the post that put Hobbs in hot water was urging patriots to stay “locked and loaded.” He’s since walked that comment back, explaining to KCRG TV that “locked and loaded” is a military readiness term to be prepared for any trouble. He likened himself to a modern day Paul Revere, “attempting to wake the sleeping masses.”

Hobbs added that he doesn’t condone violence. The post drew criticism from Governor Kim Reynolds, who called the post “unacceptable and uncalled for.”
