A manufactured home was lost to fire in the early morning hours Saturday.
According to a media release from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, they were dispatched to the residence at 161 Kohawk Street Southwest just before 3:45am on a neighbor’s report of smoke coming from the home. The owner was home at the time, and was able to get out safely.
By the time crews arrived, the home was fully on fire. Once it was determined that everyone was accounted for, they deployed hoselines and were able to get the fire extinguished.
The resident, identified as Shane Zigler, was not injured. It’s unknown if the smoke alarms in the unit were working.
No damage estimate was immediately available, but the home was a total loss.
Cause of the blaze is under investigation.
