An Iowa City man who has been wanted on a host of parole violations was arrested for a suspected vehicle theft in October.

According to police, the incident occurred sometime between late October 5th and early October 6th. 31-year-old James Dobbins of Sylvan Glen Court reportedly came to the victim’s home down the street and was let in by the woman’s daughter. Dobbins is then accused of taking the woman’s keys to her 2011 Kia and driving it to Illinois, where he crashed and totaled it.

A check of court records showed that Dobbins has a number of parole violations, including missing appointments, and failing to return to the residential corrections facility in Davenport he was assigned to.

Dobbins was booked into the Johnson County Jail Thursday afternoon and charged with 2nd degree theft, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
