A North Liberty woman accused of being part of a group who stole over $1000 in merchandise from Fin and Feather on Highway 1 West in September has been arrested.

Police say the incident occurred at the store just before noon on September 23rd. Officers were dispatched due to a theft. The manager told them that six females entered the store, removed security tags from clothing, concealed the items in bags, and attempted to leave the store. As one of the suspects headed toward the door, an employee stopped her and questioned her about a coat she had in her bag.

26-year-old Zhane Ball was among the females; she’s accused of walking up behind the woman, taking the bag from her and throwing the coat on the floor. Ball then allegedly left the store carrying a full bag of merchandise. The employee reportedly followed her outside and confronted her about another coat in her bag. She allegedly threw that coat to the ground before getting in a car and leaving.

Management says the six left the store with merchandise totaling over $1300 that they didn’t pay for. When pictures of the suspects were circulated among the ICPD, several officers identified Ball. A check of court records shows her with charges ranging from assault, theft and criminal mischief going back as far as 2013.

A warrant for her arrest was issued on October 22nd and she was arrested Monday night. Ball is charged with 3rd degree Theft, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years if convicted.
