Failing asleep in his running car near Hills after a Christmas night trip to the casino has led to a Quad Cities man’s arrest.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a farm drive on 520th Street, across the Iowa River from the Hills Access, at 2:15 Saturday morning. Arriving deputies found 46-year-old Michael Murdock of Davenport asleep behind the wheel of a running Ford Taurus. Investigators say they could see marijuana in plain view, and when awakened, Murdock admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol at the Riverside Casino.
A search of the car turned up a bag of a crystal substance that Murdock allegedly admitted was methamphetamine that he had purchased for $30.
Murdock is charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and one count of Driving While Suspended. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
