An Iowa City man was arrested early Christmas morning, charged with his third OWI.

According to arrest reports, 46-year-old Raynard Woods of Spring Ridge Drive was stopped at his residence after previously being observed stopping in the middle of the roadway and driving on the wrong side of the road. Upon contact, Woods allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes and smelled of ingested alcohol. He reportedly admitted to drinking earlier and showed measurable signs of intoxication on field testing. He refused further chemical testing, urine or blood tests.

A check of Woods’ driving record showed his status as suspended.

In August of 2017, Woods was sentenced for OWI incidents on March 19th and July 2nd of that year. In a plea deal, Judge Deborah Minot sentenced him to 62 days in jail, suspending 53 of those days. He was also put on a year’s probation and ordered to perform community service to cover his fines.

For Friday’s incident, Woods was charged with his third OWI, a Class D felony.
