The National Weather Service is predicting a warmer winter for Iowa with above-average precipitation.

That’s according to data released by the weather service’s Quad Cities office on Friday. Maps show a 33% chance of above-average temperatures for the three-month period of January, February and March for southeast Iowa, including Johnson County. The rest of the state is expected to see average temperatures during the next three months.

A 33% chance of above-average precipitation is expected for the eastern half of the state during the winter months, although January specifically is likely to see an average amount of precipitation.
