A Tiffin massage therapist has had his license suspended indefinitely after allegations that he touched the private areas of female clients and made sexual comments.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the Iowa Board of Massage Therapy publicly released the order Thursday, saying that Darryl Dodd’s statements on the allegations indicate that his misconduct would continue.
According to the Board, Dodd removed the draping sheet from a woman’s breast while he was massaging her in the fall of 2017. The woman says Dodd touched her nipple, said she “had a nice rack,” and told her, “can you imagine if someone walked in right now, what sex position this would look like.” Dodd called the woman a year later, apologizing for his behavior, but asked her not to tell anyone about the incident.
The Gazette also reports that in the fall of 2019, Dodd allegedly massaged close to a woman’s pubic area without getting consent, made comments about how “nice” and “fit” her body was, and later offered to teach her a procedure that “really gets guys off.”
State investigators who looked into the case were told by Dodd, “Am I aggressive on getting close to the private areas, yes, guilty as charged, but I do it because I know that the results I get are far superior to those that do not.”
The Iowa Board of Massage issued an emergency order to suspend Dodd’s license pending hearing, and the order released Thursday makes the suspension indefinite.
