Driving without headlights on and no plates has led to the arrest of a Cedar Rapids woman on OWI charges.

Police say they observed 20-year-old Colbie Jameson of 3rd Avenue Southeast operating a Ford Focus with no plates and her headlights off around 12:40 am Thursday in the 600 block of South Capitol Street. Jameson allegedly nearly hit two parked cars and drove onto the wrong side of the roadway.

The officer had face-to-face contact with Jameson about fifteen minutes before on a separate call for service, where he says she appeared to be under the influence. A witness to the incident said that she tried to stop Jameson from driving because of her having used drugs.

Jameson failed field sobriety tests, and allegedly told the officer that she had smoked marijuana. She refused any further testing.

A check of her driving record showed her status as revoked.

She was taken into custody and charged with her second OWI and driving while revoked. Jameson could be sentenced to up to three years in prison if convicted on both counts.
