Coralville Police did a tobacco compliance check of 25 businesses Monday, with just one of 25 failing.

In a release from Chief Shane Kron, 24 businesses refused to sell tobacco products to underage buyers. The one exception was the Coralville Walmart. 37-year-old Ebony Cummings of North Liberty was charged with providing a tobacco product to a person under the age of 21, a simple misdemeanor.

The CPD does periodic checks of businesses to ensure they remain in compliance with Iowa law prohibiting alcohol and tobacco sales to people under age.
