A trial date has been set for two men accused of killing an Iowa City resident during an attempted robbery last spring.

On Thursday, Judge Lars Anderson set a trial date of May 11th for 22-year old Durojaiye Rosa of Broadway Street and 32-year old Patrick Bland of Rockford, Illinois. A pretrial conference is set for February 12th.

Rosa and Bland are accused of being accomplices in the April 20th murder of Kejuan Winters, who lived in Rosa’s building. Rosa allegedly told investigators that he and Reginald Little of Cross Park Avenue entered Winters’ apartment only with the intent of robbing him, not shooting him. Winters, who was unarmed, died at the scene.

All three men have each been charged with first degree murder, punishable by life in prison if convicted.

Little, who is believed to be the shooter, is being tried separately. His case management conference is set for March 5th with a trial starting April 6th.
