An Iowa City neighborhood is spreading holiday cheer while also raising money for charity.
Neighbors along Rita Lyn Court have decorated their yards and homes with a series of elaborate Christmas lights. The display, also known as “Sugar Plum Lane” and “The Christmas Lights Street”, has been an annual tradition for about 30 years. The display can be enjoyed from the comfort of your car, or you can walk along the street if weather permits. Pedestrians are asked to wear masks and observe social distancing.
Those who enjoy the lights are encouraged to donate to Table to Table, the Iowa City area’s local food rescue organization. You can donate online at table2table.org, or Venmo @table2table. You can find those links under this story on the KCJJ web site: 1630KCJJ.com.
Rita Lyn Court is located just across Rochester Avenue from the Regina Catholic Education Center.
