Allegedly cutting another person with a knife during an argument about money has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.
Iowa City Police were called to an apartment on the 400 block of South Lucas Street just before 1:30 Tuesday morning for a man making threats while holding a knife. An investigation determined that one of the residents, 49-year-old Keith Collins, had been in an argument with another person about money when a third person got involved. Collins allegedly told the third person, “Gonna kill you” and grabbed the person’s left arm. He then allegedly pushed the victim and sliced the person’s hand with a knife. The victim had fresh blood on their right hand when police arrived, as well as a bruise and small scratches on the upper arm.
Collins denied being in an altercation with the victim. He’s charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury and 1st Degree Harassment. If convicted on both charges, Collins faces a maximum of three years in prison.
