University of Iowa law professor Todd Pettys usually takes members of his Supreme Court Seminar class out to dinner at the end of the semester, but due to the pandemic he had another gift for his students: a message from reality television star Carole Baskin.
That’s according to Monday’s Daily Iowan. Baskin was featured prominently in the Netflix documentary series “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness”. When Pettys was unable to take his students to dinner, he told the newspaper he accidentally stumbled upon the web site Cameo. Cameo allows users to request a pre-recorded message from celebrities for a certain fee, and Baskin fit Pettys’ price range. “Tiger King” viewers know Baskin also has a lot of experience with lawsuits…something she addresses in the video. Baskin also mentions that her current husband is a Harvard Law graduate.
Baskin’s message was originally shared with Pettys’ students via email, but it has since been shared on the UI law school’s Instagram page: uiowalawschool.
