A North Liberty man with a long criminal history has been arrested again on a warrant stemming from a September domestic assault.

According to police, they were called to the North Front Street home of 24-year-old Deandre Davis the morning of September 24th on reports of a domestic assault. Davis had fled the scene by the time officers arrived, but the victim said that she and Davis were arguing when it escalated. Davis is accused of tearing her shirt, pushing her down on the bed, putting his hand around her throat and saying he was going to kill her.

Davis was arrested on Tuesday evening on the outstanding warrant. He’s been charged with violation of a no-contact order, first degree Harassment, Domestic Assault 3rd or Subsequent, and Domestic Abuse Assault impeding Airflow. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 12 years in jail.

In 2014, Davis, then 18, was convicted of multiple car burglaries between July 20th and August 2nd. He and two juveniles stole electronics, firearms, and other valuables from the cars of the victims, and then sold or traded the items. He was convicted of 2nd degree Theft and 3rd degree Burglary, but was given suspended sentences and probation.

In May of last year, Davis was accused of violating a no-contact order with a Coralville woman, entering her 2nd floor residence by an unsecured sliding glass door. He allegedly punched the woman and took her phone. He was sentenced to two years in prison for that incident, as it was his third such conviction on domestic assualt. He was released from the Clarinda Correctional Facility on June 22nd .

Davis remains in the Johnson County Jail as of Thursday morning.
