Iowa City Police are seeking the public’s help as they investigate two shots fired incidents over the past weekend.

On Saturday at approximately 3:39 am, officers were in the area of 3rd Avenue and I street after reports of a group of people arguing and yelling about a gun. While on the call, they heard multiple shots being fired to the east, followed by 911 calls reporting the noise. Police found no property damage, and there was no report of injuries.

Then on Sunday afternoon at 5:18, officers got a report of shots fired in the 200 block of Myrtle Avenue. Upon arrival, they got notice that a caller reported seeing a white car with blackout customized plates, a white spoiler and silver rims being driven by a dark-skinned male prior to hearing the shots. Once the shots were fired, the caller reported that the white car sped off. Officers found damage to a house that appeared to be caused by a BB gun, and are trying to determine if the damage is related to the incident. There were no reports of injuries.

The police are not releasing any additional information on either incident at this time, and it’s unknown if the two incidents are connected.

The ICPD is asking for anyone in the area of the incidents that have security cameras to check their surveillance footage and share it with them if it might be helpful to their investigation. In addition, any witnesses or persons with information regarding the incidents are encouraged to contact Iowa City Police at 356-5275.
