IC man arrested for alleged crowbar assault

North Liberty Police have arrested an Iowa City man for allegedly attacking another man with a crowbar.

27-year-old Dwayne Eskridge was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 9:45 Thursday night. According to the NLPD, Eskridge allegedly stuck the victim in the side of the leg with a metal crowbar just before 7:30pm on October 12th at a residence on Mary Lane. The victim had bruising on his leg and provided investigators with photos of the injury.

Police say Eskridge admitted to hitting the man, and was identified as the assailant by the victim and other witnesses.

Eskridge, who lists home addresses on Davis Street and Kirkwood  Avenue, was arrested just after 8:30 Thursday night near the corner of Heritage Drive and Heritage Place in North Liberty. Police say he had Alprazolam, a prescription medication used to treat anxiety and panic disorders, on his person when he was taken into custody. He has previous drug convictions from 2014 and 2019.

Eskridge is charged with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
