An Iowa City man wanted on an outstanding warrant was taken into custody Sunday night after being found with methamphetamine.
Police stopped 28-year-old Jordan Burmeister of Century Street at around 10:40pm on Erobi Street, knowing he was wanted on a failure to appear warrant on meth possession charges. Upon making contact, he allegedly admitted he was a user and had a quantity of meth in his possession. He then produced a small baggie of crystal consistent with meth.
Burmeister was charged with meth possession and first offense OWI, both serious misdemeanors. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to two years in prison.
