The number of University of Iowa employees who have been infected with the coronavirus this semester has hit triple digits.

That’s according to the latest figures released by the school on Friday.

According to an update on the school’s coronavirus information web site, nine more COVID-19 cases have been reported among UI employees since Wednesday. That makes a total of 100 cases among school employees since the fall semester began.

19 new COVID-19 cases have been reported among UI students since Wednesday.  That’s a total of 2,168 student cases since the start of the fall semester.

Three residence hall occupants are currently under quarantine and eight are in self-isolation. That’s up from one in quarantine and two in self-isolation at the same time last week.

Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others, while self-isolation is used to separate people infected with the virus from people who are not infected.
