A local transient faces charges that she stole a laptop from the Coralville Public Library.

Coralville Police say last summer 47-year-old Trina Thompson checked out a Lenovo Thinkpad and a Wi-Fi hotspot from the library with a return date of August 20th. Officers contacted her when she failed to return the items, but she assured them she would bring them back by September 11th. Thompson then allegedly again failed to return the items and ceased communicating with library staff.

Thompson was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 4:30 Friday afternoon and charged with 3rd Degree Theft. If convicted, she faces a maximum of two years in prison.

The total value of the stolen items is $965.
