A Shelter House resident was arrested Thursday afternoon on this 3rd OWI charge.

Police reports indicate that 35-year-old Delvon Funches was observed operating his vehicle against traffic on Sturgis Corner Drive at Highway 6. A traffic stop was initiated, and Funches reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes and a strong smell of alcohol.

Police say Funches attempted to perform field testing but struggled to follow directions. He refused a subsequent Datamaster test.

Funches had previous OWIs in February of 2016 and May of 2019. He was charged with his third offense, which is a Class D Felony. He was also charged for driving while barred as a habitual offender, and if convicted on both counts could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
