The city of North Liberty reports that there have been rumors posted on social media that someone is leaving hot dogs with poisonous pills stuffed in them in yards, presumably for pets to eat.
In a release from the City Tuesday, police were alerted to a single partial piece of what appears to be a hot dog which will be tested for potential chemicals. No additional reports have been filed.
Officials are encouraging anyone who sees suspicious activity or locates a suspicious item to contact the county dispatch non-emergency number at 319-356-6800. Residents are also encouraged to check with neighbors to see if any of them have surveillance cameras with video that might help an investigation.
