An Iowa City man who has a no-contact order against him is accused of assaulting the other party, and allegedly told officers he has violated the order every day since it was issued.

Police were called to an apartment in the 200 block of First Avenue in Iowa City Tuesday a little after 7am on report of a No Contact Order violation. The protected party reported that 32-eyar-old Samuel Pitts was in bed with her and punched her in the face during an argument.

Pitts had been arrested for domestic assault on September 16th and was served with the no-contact order during his initial appearance.

Officers noted the woman had a small cut and bruising to her eye from the alleged assault. Pitts reportedly told officers as he was arrested that he violates the no-contact order daily and has since the day it was issued.

Pitts was charged with second offense Domestic Abuse Assault and Contempt on the No-Contact order. If convicted, he could be sentenced to over two years in prison.
