A Chicago man has been arrested after allegedly fighting with Iowa City Police during a traffic stop.

Officers pulled over 39-year-old Marvin Jones for a traffic violation just before 11:45 Thursday night at the intersection of Highway 6 and Valley Avenue, near Carver Hawkeye Arena. Police say Jones showed multiple signs of intoxication and refused breath and field sobriety testing. He allegedly refused officers’ commands when they tried to place him into handcuffs, including locking his arms and kicking at officers.

Jones allegedly continued kicking at officers while being placed into the back of a squad car, including kicking one officer in the arm causing pain.

Jones is charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
