The University of Iowa reports that since Wednesday, 30 students and six employees have self-reported a positive COVID-19 case.
That compares to Wednesday’s announcement adding 36 new student cases and one employee case from Monday’s report.
Wednesday’s report came with a message from UI officials acknowledging that the spread of coronavirus has slowed considerably since the start of the fall semester. However, they urge the campus community to stay vigilant, and warn that if there’s another spike, the university will consider additional actions.
The 14-day rolling total of cases in Johnson County has continued to fall. On September 16th it was at 708; by September 23rd it had dropped to 363 and as of Friday was 322.
The most recent email from the UI’s Office of Student Accountability showed 192 reports of students failing to social distance, 40 getting a disciplinary reprimand and 15 getting a written warning. The office also has seven reports of students failing to follow isolation or quarantine expectations; two got disciplinary reprimands and one got a written warning.
As of Friday, the university has had 1974 students and 44 employees test positive for COVID-19.
