A North Liberty man was taken into custody Thursday after an alleged domestic assault.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was called to a residence on IWV Road Southwest in Oxford at around 2:30 pm on report of an assault. Upon arrival, the victim was reportedly distraught. She reportedly was bleeding from a laceration on her wrist and arm, had numerous bruises on her arms, and a scrape on her knee.

According to the woman, the incident occurred when 50-year-old Chad Miller became upset with her. She got up from the living room area and walked toward her kitchen. That’s when Miller is accused of coming up from behind her and pushed her down. He then allegedly tried to grab her arms to pull her up, but she wouldn’t let him.

The woman reported that Miller then fled the residence on foot. She told the deputy that she and miller have been cohabitating since October of 2019 and that their relationship had been intimate in the past.

Miller, whose address is listed as Forevergreen Road, was located and taken to the Johnson County Jail at 5:43pm, charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail if convicted.
