A two-vehicle accident in Iowa City has led to a North Liberty woman’s arrest on drug charges.
Iowa City Police say that just after 1:30pm on March 26th 18-year-old Jayla Lamp of Whipple Court failed to yield at a stop sign near the intersection of Keokuk Street and Highway 6. Her car collided with another vehicle.
Investigators say they noticed a strong smell of marijuana from inside Lamp’s Honda Civic. A search allegedly turned up a clear jar labelled “Dank Bank” in the glove box which contained 4.6 grams of marijuana. A clear glass bong was allegedly found in the cargo pocket behind the front passenger seat.
Police say Lamp admitted to smoking marijuana. A warrant was issued for her arrest on April 1st, and it was executed by North Liberty Police on Tuesday.
Lamp was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 10:30 Tuesday night and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
