Allegedly fleeing the scene of a motor vehicle accident has led to the arrest of an Iowa City man.
Iowa City Police say 25-year-old Antoine Bryant of Catskill Court was driving a grey Mazda Sedan just before 5:45pm on August 21st when he rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of Benton Street and Mormon Trek Boulevard. Bryant allegedly left the scene without contacting the other driver, but later admitted by phone to a family member that he had been driving and that there were minor scratches to his vehicle.
Police say they gave Bryant the opportunity to speak to them, but he never showed up or contacted them.
The accident was non-reportable and the other driver declined to press charges, but during the course of the investigation police learned Bryant was barred from driving. He’s charged with Driving While Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in prison.
