A Coralville man was taken into custody overnight after refusing to stop for police in West Liberty.
According to arrest reports, 25-year-old Louis Lopez of 5th Street was stopped by Iowa City police near Scott Boulevard and Court Street just after 2am after his vehicle was reported for not stopping for police about ten minutes earlier in West Liberty.
Lopez reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, impaired balance, and smelled of ingested alcohol. He reportedly admitted to drinking, showed measurable impairment on field tests and failed a PBT. His Datamaster reading showed a blood-alcohol level of .130 percent.
Lopez was charged with his first OWI, a serious misdemeanor.
