Man leads CR Police chase in Aramark truck, gets arrested

Cedar Rapids police have arrested a suspect who they say attempted to elude them in a stolen Aramark truck.

According to the CRPD, the truck was stolen Friday morning around 11:15 from Mercy Medical Center on 10th Street SE.

A Cedar Rapids police officer located the stolen vehicle around 1:57 p.m. near 21st Street and Mount Vernon Road SE. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver of the stolen vehicle continued northbound on 19th Street from Mount Vernon Road SE. Police pursued the stolen vehicle until the suspect driver wedged the stolen vehicle between a pole and a warehouse near Oakland Road and G Avenue NE around 2:10 p.m. The suspect then fled on foot inside the warehouse, where he was apprehended by officers.

There was damage to the stolen vehicle and the warehouse. No injuries were reported.

The suspect has been identified as 38-year-old Billy Andrew Clark. He was arrested and charged 2nd Degree Theft. Several traffic charges are also pending.
