Cedar Rapids Police say they’ve arrested a suspect allegedly involved in a convenience store robbery last month.

The robbery in question is one of three Kwik Shop locations that were robbed August 6th and 7th in the city. On the 6th at approximately 1:20am, two suspects entered the store on 1st Avenue Southwest. Two black men, one about 5’5” and the other about 6’, entered the store. The shorter of the two was wearing a grey hoodie with black sleeves, grey Nike pants, and a light blue hospital mask. The taller man was wearing all black, with a camouflaged Iowa baseball cap, and a pink camo face covering.

The taller man was the one police arrested Wednesday afternoon. He’s been identified as 21-year-old Desmond Westbrook of Cedar Rapids. He’s been charged with 1st degree Robbery, Carrying Weapons, and Possession of a Firearm as a Felon.

The other two Kwik shop robberies occurred the next night, at 12:22am at the Center Point Road Northeast location, and at 1:43am at the J Street Southwest location. The suspects were dressed differently at each location.

The other suspect remains at large.
