Iowa City police have released the names of two individuals involved in an alleged water bottle throwing incident in the downtown area Saturday night.

According to arrest reports, 18-year-old Daniel Galloway of Cedar Rapids was driving a support vehicle involved in the protest event at approximately 10:15pm in the area of Clinton and Jefferson streets.  He reportedly was driving in a dangerous manner, running stop signs and speeding.

The vehicle, a 2018 Jeep Renegade, allegedly had tape covering the front and back license plates.

As Galloway drove away, he and three other subjects in the vehicle are accused of throwing full water bottles at pedestrians in the area. One of the passengers pleaded with Galloway to stop, and said that Galloway encouraged behavior.

Police identified one of the other passengers as 19-year old Marquise Hubbard, also of Cedar Rapids.  He was observed throwing water bottles at random people several blocks from the protest, near Dubuque and Market streets. Police say three separate victims were hit with water bottles.

Both Galloway and Hubbard were taken into custody and charged with 3 counts each of simple assault, and could be sentenced to 90 days in jail if convicted on all counts.
