A Coralville man was arrested on a warrant stemming from a domestic assault incident from the past weekend.
According to the victim, she and 32-year-old Patrick Snagg of Boston Way were going through a break up and she was retrieving items from his residence at approximately 3:40am August 22nd when he asked her to leave. While she was continuing to get her belongings, they continued to argue.
Snagg is then accused of grabbing her by the head and throwing her into the wall. He then allegedly threw her on the couch and got on top of her. He reportedly then put his hand on her throat for about 15 seconds, according to the woman. She said she had to bite Snagg’s forearm and pull his hair to get away from him. She told police that she threatened to call them on Snagg if he didn’t let her go, but he allegedly said he would shoot them if they came.
The woman escaped the residence and met up with police on Commerce Drive. They noted her injuries, which included a welt on her forehead that she believed she suffered when being thrown into the wall. She also had red marks on the left side of her throat, and a small cut on the inside corner of her lip.
After taking the woman’s statement, officers went back to Snagg’s residence. He was standing outside the building when they arrived, but ran into a different apartment when he saw the officers. Snagg reportedly refused to open the door, saying that they needed a warrant to talk to him about the incident.
The warrant was served on Thursday, and Snagg was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Restricting Airlfow, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison term of up to two years if convicted.
A no-contact order was granted between the two parties.
