A Coralville man was taken into custody this week after allegedly threatening a woman who owed him $30.

Police were dispatched to a residence on the 400 block of Highway 1 West in Iowa City on reports of a harassment complaint August 4th just before 8:50pm. According to the victim, 49-year-old Jeremy Mulvaney of 21st Avenue Place lent her $30, and he wanted the money back or some personal property to make up for it.

When told that she didn’t have the money, Mulvaney is accused of sending several text messages, including statements that he would kick her door in, she would go to the hospital, and threats of using a pistol to her throat and her head.

A warrant for Mulvaney’s arrest was issued, and he was booked into the Johnson County Jail Tuesday morning. He’s been charged with first degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison term of up to two years if convicted.

A no-contact order was requested between the two parties involved.
