A semi driver from Kansas accused of a hit and run has been charged with possession of meth.

Police say a state trooper was patrolling Route 80 Monday and was notified of a hit and run vehicle heading eastbound. The vehicle was described as a maroon Peterbilt with a nearly empty flatbed, and the trooper located the vehicle just after 5pm.

The vehicle reportedly had damage to the passenger side on the sleeper berth and its side step. Once the semi was pulled over, the driver was identified as 58-year-old Roger Adee of Republic, Kansas. Another trooper sent video of the alleged hit and run verifying it was Adee’s semi that was involved.

Adee was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, which he denied. When asked for the last time, Adee allegedly took a long pause and said he wasn’t sure. He gave permission to search for drugs, and a glass pipe with a whitish residue was located in a plastic cup holder. It reportedly tested positive as meth, and Adee admitted to using but said he hadn’t used in about 8 months and he snorts it.

Adee was charged with meth and drug paraphernalia possession and could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail if convicted.
