A Coralville man was taken into custody on a warrant stemming from an alleged death threat.

According to police, 19-year-old Anthony Smith of 5th Street went to a residence on 4th Avenue uninvited just after 10pm on August 15th, and asked a woman who lives there for drugs. When he was told to leave the property, Smith allegedly became irate, challenging her to make him leave.

Smith reportedly went on to threaten the woman, saying he would blow her house up, and said he “had people,” would return and shoot her.

The woman reported that she was in fear of Smith’s threats.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, and police booked Smith into the Johnson County Jail at 11pm Thursday. He’s been charged with 1st Degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a maximum prison term of two years if convicted.
