About 80 members of the University of Iowa community marched to president Bruce Harreld’s residence Wednesday to push for online-exclusive learning .
The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that the Campaign to Organize Graduate Students organized the rally.
COGS Vice President Derek Dellorio said during the gathering that the reason for the rally isn’t just because they’re worried about their graduate workers. He said it’s about students, professors, elderly in retirement communities, and people at the hospital.
The rally also drew attention to the coronavirus and its disproportionate impact on Black, Indigenous and other people of color in general.
The group called for President Harreld to resign, one speaker calling him “the herald of death.”
