The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a fatal accident in Iowa County.
According to a State Patrol news release, a 2013 GMC Sierra was traveling southbound on Highway 151 south of 120th Street, north of Amana, just after 11:15 pm Wednesday when it crossed into the northbound lanes. The vehicle lost control, entered the east ditch, hit a utility pole and rolled into a culvert.
One person in the vehicle, 33-year-old Rance Spaid of Carthage, Texas, died at the scene. A second, 34-year-old Timothy Bellinghausen of Cleveland, Georgia, was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics via ambulance. Bellinghausen’s condition has not been released.
The accident remains under investigation.
