The devastating storm that hit the Iowa City area on Monday left hundreds of downed trees, limbs, and wood debris in its wake. A city of Iowa City news release says the city has begun accepting downed trees, limbs, and yard debris from residents at the lot south of the Iowa City Transit facilities at 1200 S. Riverside Drive. The site is open for residential yard debris and tree waste from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. There are no size limitations or bundling requirements on limbs or branches.

In addition to accepting yard waste, the City will also accept spoiled food from Iowa City residents at the South Riverside Drive site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Spoiled food must be bagged; residents will unload into a garbage truck at the site.  Spoiled food will also be picked up in customers’ trash carts on their regular pick-up day.

Please note that the South Riverside Drive location is for Iowa City residential customers only. Non-residents should check with their community for options.
