The Johnson County Auditor’s office has provided an update to their procedures for sending out absentee ballot requests.
The requests are going out in four waves. The first, which has already been sent, included small towns, senior housing, PO boxes, and rural areas.
This week, requests are going out to Coralville, North Liberty, Tiffin, University Heights, and most of Iowa City in two separate mailings.
The final wave will start the first part of September and will include the UI Campus area, apartments, mobile home parks, and newly registered voters since the first mailing.
The office says that some households are getting or will get multiple absentee ballot requests from different organizations. Only one needs to be sent in, and the Auditor’s office has protections in place preventing more than one ballot per voter being sent out should you send in more than one request for an absentee ballot.
Some of those requests form are blank; they are legal, but must be filled out with birthdate and either driver’s license number or Voter PIN.
Absentee ballots will be sent out the first part of October.
