A Chicagoland woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after fleeing a rear-end accident and crashing her vehicle due to her level of intoxication.

Arrest reports indicate that the incident occurred before 3:30pm on the 5300 block of Sand Road, when 23-year-old Baylee Patrick of Glen Ellyn reportedly rear-ended the vehicle in front of her at a four-way stop, then fled the scene.

Patrick made it about a half mile before she allegedly crossed the center line, went through the opposite ditch, struck a fence, and came to rest in a cornfield. Upon contact, she had slurred speech, had the odor of ingested alcohol, and showed signs of impairment during field testing. A PBT showed a blood-alcohol level of .310 percent, and a subsequent Datamaster was a lower .221 percent.

Patrick was taken into custody and charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
