Multiple news sources are reporting that the Big Ten Conference has voted to cancel the 2020 college football season due to concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Detroit Free Press says that sources have requested anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly, but a formal announcement is expected Tuesday.

The presidents of the schools in the conference voted 12-2 to end fall spots. On his radio show Monday, Dan Patrick said only Iowa and Nebraska voted to play.

Sources told the Free Press that the Big Ten is trying to coordinate its announcement with other Power Five conferences.

Reports over the weekend indicated that Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren prefers that there be spring football, but there has been no decision made.
