A North Liberty man was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after allegedly striking his father.

According to police, 18-year-old Brodie Pasker of Jonathan Street had an altercation with family members at approximately 1:40pm. Pasker took something from his sister, and when confronted about it, threw it back at her. This allegedly brought Pasker’s father into the incident, who confronted the teen about his actions.

Pasker reportedly struck his father, hitting him on the ear, causing pain and affecting his hearing. The father retreated to the basement of the residence to call 911, but Pasker followed him and a struggle ensued. The mother was able to separate the two before police arrived.

Personnel from the Johnson County Ambulance Service checked both Pasker and his father out, with the boy refusing treatment. The father went to the emergency room via private vehicle.

Pasker was charged with domestic abuse assault without intent causing injury, a serious misdemeanor. If convicted, he could be sentenced to a maximum jail term of one year.
