An Iowa City man has been arrested after breaking down the door to his apartment, only to find that he was at the wrong door.
Police say they were called to the 100 block of Woodside Drive just after 2am Friday for a break-in. They came upon 24-year-old Hunter Yordy, who had forced entry into an apartment on the third floor. Yordy lives in the complex, but on the second floor. He allegedly told authorities that he thought it was his apartment.
Yordy was allegedly intoxicated, as evidenced by the odor of ingested alcohol, bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and poor balance. A PBT showed a blood alcohol level of .207 percent.
Yordy was charged with trespass causing damage for breaking the $350 door to the stranger’s apartment. If convicted on the charge, Yordy could be sentenced to up to 30 days in jail.
