A North Liberty man has been arrested after allegedly hitting his live-in girlfriend with his car.

According to police, 21-year-old Nathaniel Armento of War Admiral Lane was in a verbal argument with the woman Monday night. The argument turned physical, with Armento chasing the woman down the street on foot. He reportedly gave up the foot chase and went back to get his car. At about 10:45, witnesses say, Armento deliberately hit the woman with his car, injuring her as he sped away.

Armento was located by police and arrested. He’s been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to two years in prison. A no-contact order was requested between Armento and his girlfriend.
