An Iowa City man was arrested Monday after allegedly punching a woman while she was holding her one-year-old daughter.
Police responded to the Town and Campus Apartments at 9:10pm for a second report of domestic assault from the victim. They were dispatched earlier in the evening for a verbal argument between the woman and 27-year-old Trestepfone Pryor over property. He had allegedly taken the woman’s cellphone, along with the plates to her vehicle.
They were called back the second time and were told that Pryor punched the woman in the face while she was holding her daughter in the east parking lot. A witness and video surveillance corroborated the account.
Pryor allegedly fled the scene, but was located by police. He stated he didn’t punch the woman, but the surveillance video reportedly proved him wrong.
Pryor was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury and Child Endangerment. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to a maximum three years in prison.
