Accidentally shooting another man in the leg has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.
Iowa City Police were called to 2733 Wayne Avenue at 3am on July 12th for an individual who had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim told arriving officers that he was injured when 36-year-old Russell Taylor of Westside Drive accidentally discharged his gun in the garage.
Taylor told investigators he was loading his Springfield 9mm handgun when it malfunctioned and went off, hitting the victim in the leg.
Taylor is charged with Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits. An initial court appearance is set for September 1st.
