An Iowa City woman was arrested after breaking windows and assaulting a resident at the Town and Campus Apartments overnight.

According to police, 19-year-old Dareasia Banks went to the complex just before 1am and approached a woman sitting in a chair outside her apartment. She then reportedly punched the woman in the nose, leaving a cut on the bridge of the victim’s nose and a possible broken nose.

Banks is also accused of breaking two windows out of the apartment, causing $360 in damage.

A check of her records showed that Banks was wanted on a May 9th incident. The victim in that case stated that Banks and others blocked her from leaving a residence on Eastbrook Street around 2am and approached her as she was sitting inside her vehicle. The group, including Banks, then allegedly assaulted the woman, physically removed her from the vehicle, and continued the assault. The woman suffered a bite mark on her face from Banks, who was identified by photo lineup and through witness statements. The woman’s phone was also stolen.

Banks was charged with 4th degree criminal mischief and assault causing bodily injury for the Town and Campus incident. The May 9th incident brought initial charges of 1st degree Burglary. If convicted on all counts, Banks faces a prison sentence of up to 27 years.
