A Hills resident was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon on a warrant and for trying to flee when placed under arrest.

33-year-old Michael McKinney of Aspen Lane was approached in the parking lot of his apartment building a little past 1:15pm by an officer who was aware of a warrant for driving while barred. When the officer informed McKinney that there was a warrant for his arrest, he ran. During the ensuing foot chase, the officer used OC spray to stop him from running, which resulted McKinney being successfully arrested.

McKinney reportedly continued to resist arrest while being handcuffed. The officer reported strong pain on his arms and face from the effects of the OC spray.

McKinney was charged with interference with official acts causing bodily injury; with the warrant on driving while barred habitual offender, he now faces up to three years in prison if convicted on both counts.
